The major goal of the Education Cluster is to offer evidence-based technical and advising support to improve the quality and equity of education in the region. The Cluster works in collaboration with the education bureau and other governmental and non-governmental institutions to:

- Improve the relevance of the school curriculum
- Develop a contextualized and relevant teacher and school leaders professional development system
- Improve the teaching of science and mathematics in primary and secondary schools
- Establish model schools in collaboration with the communities to advance innovative instructional practices and teacher professional development models
- Integrate ICT in the education system.
- Conduct research to identify the educational problems of the region and
- Develop the capacity of teachers and educational experts
The Cluster currently supports the regional government in reforming the school curriculum, implementing the new education roadmap, establishing Science and Mathematics Instructional Material Development Center, and improving literacy and numeracy instructional techniques of teachers. With the aim of supporting the Sustainable Development Goal related to education, the Cluster also supports the regional government to develop inclusive and gender responsive system in primary and secondary schools.
